The job

Novus Construction needed a structural shotcrete wall on an excavation at Ironwood Court in Edmonton, and needed it on a tight schedule. Enviro Shield delivered it for Novus in three days, August 17–19, 2026.

The method is what makes shotcrete the right call on an excavation: drainage board, rebar tied over it, and shotcrete sprayed into place, with no forms to set or strip. What Novus got was a straight wall with a clean, even face, and dowels left out where the walls meet.

1. Rebar tight on the drainage board

Drainage board went on first, then the steel: vertical and horizontal bars tied into a tight, even mat, with dowels left out at the corner where the next wall ties in. Steel set straight and tight before shooting is the base of a straight, even wall.

2. Shotcrete, built up to a clean face

Shotcrete was built up and finished to a clean, even face, panel by panel along the excavation. The lower lift was finished smooth before work moved up, and the rebar above was left clean and ready for the next lift.
